What do teeth, love letters, driveways and safes have in common?

They are things that are SO important, that they require being “sealed” in order to keep them protected.

No not all of them require being S.W.A.K. (Sealed With A Kiss), although, in theory, they could be.

Sealants are important for longevity and keeping precious things safe.

At Richfield Blacktop and Concrete, it is important for us to not only provide well-engineered and fantastic looking driveways (or patios, walkways or dog kennels), we also like to provide maintenance support for your investment.  Concrete sealants are an important part of property maintenance.

If you don’t know much about concrete, you probably think it’s “hard as rocks” and doesn’t need much care and protection, right?  Your little one falls off her bike on that “hard surface” and is going to get a bit banged up – just like you did as a kid.  It’s hard, yet can be a bit fragile – especially in its early years or even later years – kinda like people.

How many big strong tough guys do you know with that external persona, yet they are “teddy bears” on the inside?  The same general concept applies to concrete – especially when it’s young.

Like a little one, it takes concrete 30 days for your newly paved surface to “toughen up”.  Sure, you can walk on your brand spankin’ new driveway after 24 hours.  You can even drive on it after a week.  But don’t let that fool you into thinking that because that toddler can run, he’s ready to shoot hoops.

After 30 days of “curing”, your new concrete driveway is ready to be S.W.A.K. – or a penetrating concrete sealer, that is.  Because it’s precious, remember?  All that car oil, street salt, and other junk wants to mess up your pretty pavement.  Bullies!  So, what can you do?!

Thankfully, you don’t have to be a “know-it-all” to handle that job.  We at Richfield Blacktop and Concrete are your experts offering you 2 options:

  1. You can check out the steps on How to Seal Concrete yourself, or…
  2. You can hire Richfield Concrete to do the concrete sealant for you – which will extend your warranty to 5 years.

Because, like your love letters, teeth and safe items….it’s precious.
