How Long It Takes to Install a Concrete Project?

• Planning – Before any concrete project can be built, advance planning is needed. That starts with a free, no-obligation consultation with a Richfield Concrete representative. He’ll learn about what you have in mind, measure the area, and present a number of options to consider for your project, all in a pressure-free way. Once you’ve made all the decisions and have had all your questions answered, you’ll receive a detailed, accurate estimate of the cost.
• Scheduling – Once you contract with us for your project, we’ll work with you to schedule the start date for your project. This will depend on the scheduling of our concrete crews, weather conditions, and when you want your project to be done. Since concrete needs to be installed within a certain temperature range and can be damaged by storms that occur during the initial curing process, weather may cause short delays in the schedule.
• Construction Time – As mentioned above, most residential projects take just 1-3 days to complete. Extensive projects, such as long driveways, may take longer, of course, but we’ll let you know how long construction will take for your project, and notify you a day or two before of the exact date we’ll begin.
• Curing Time – Concrete takes time to cure after installation, and doesn’t reach its full strength for up to 30 days. While you can walk on your concrete surface in a couple of days, heavy loads are restricted for a longer period. For driveways, it’s normally 7 days before you can drive or park on the surface, and some restrictions on use will exist for the full 30-day curing time.
• Plan Ahead for Specific Needs – If you need your concrete project to be ready to use by a specific date, it’s important to begin the process as early as possible. In most cases, Richfield Concrete recommends contacting us at least 6 weeks in advance if you need a completely cured concrete surface by a certain date.
